At home in the library

Hi, my name is Bryce.  Welcome to my new web site!

September 2010 marks the beginning of my PhD work in theology at The University of Chicago Divinity School.  I've had a personal website for many years, but it seems the time is right to separate my professional work from the musings of my Rich inner world.

The name of this site, fides quaerens intellectum, is taken from St. Anselm of Canterbury whose approach to theology is described as "faith seeking understanding."  As the content of this site unfolds I believe the reasons for choosing this name will become self-evident.

My research interests include Eastern Orthodoxy, liturgical theology, queer theology and theological anthropology.  While applying to U of C, I proposed to focus my research on the intersection of queer theology and Eastern Orthodoxy with particular emphasis on the work of 19th and 20th century Russian theologians.  This area is largely unexplored, so I'm hoping to make some interesting inroads.
